For church, the nearest branch to me is a couple hours away so we can either travel there or listen to church over the phone. Kiera, Whitney, and I decided to make a weekend vacation out of going to church and explore the city. Saturday morning (Sept 15th), we took a two hour train ride to Nanjing and was welcomed out of the station by a gorgeous lake and a skyline. We took a taxi to our hostel, unpacked, and then spent the rest of the afternoon on the Purple Mountain. In the evening we visited the local streets surrounding the Confucius Temple. The next morning we went to church (it was so good to go again!), explored the lake outside the train station again, and then took a train ride back home. 3

Riding the metro for the first time.

Breakfast and the hotel we had church in.

At church I ran into two of my good friends from Freshman year—Kiffyn Smith and Bridget Funk!! We originally planned on going to China together, but I wanted to do ILP and they wanted to do China Horizons so we split up. Although I think it worked best that way, it would’ve been way fun spending this semester with them. I love these girls!

The cutest Chinese snack.

We were welcomed home by a delicious American dinner made by my friend, Amanda!
