Playground

IMG_5133
The kindergarten has a playground for the kids to play on each day. After a couple months of living in China, I realized how much fun it is to play with the kids and tried to as much as I could. Sometimes the kids are very bad in class (and you want to hate them), but when you visit during playtime, suddenly these little devils turn into the cutest kids who absolutely love you. They’ll run up give you a hug, grab your hand, make you follow them everywhere, show you everything, play ninja and superpowers, and suddenly you just can’t help but fall in love with these kids. They also love to steal your camera and take pictures—so the majority of these pictures (especially the ones I’m in) were taken by the kids.

One day Cole gave me this pipe cleaner butterfly and it kind of melted my heart.

When you tickle Tim his vein sticks out—so adorable and funny.

I can’t tell you how much fun I have with these kids. Also, incase you can’t tell—I completely favor the boys. I don’t know why, but I just love these playful, little guys!

Morning Exercises

Every morning the kids line up to sing and dance. One of my favorite things to do is participate with these exercises. These kids are probably at their cutest when they’re dancing and I love dancing crazy and making them laugh. They do two songs: one about getting ready for the day (brushing teeth, washing face, dressing, etc) and and the other is just a fun dance. Then they line up and recite a chant…which…I have no idea what that’s about.

Here’s a few videos: one of each song and one of the children chanting:

Seriously beyond adorable.

Moon Party

IMG_4009
The first week in October is a national holiday in China for Moon Festival. Before all the kids went home to their families, the school put on a little party for the kindergarteners and invited us to it! They gave everyone fruit, snacks, and the traditional moon cake. We put on a small skit/song for the kids and a few of them got up and sang to us. Then we ate and played!

These two are twins. They’re adorable.

Even after class, the kids are obsessed with their sticker chart.

This guy below in the checkered shirt is one of my favorites (I know I probably shouldn’t have favorites…but oh well). His name is Gabe and he’s in my home group. Not only is he one of the sweetest boys ever, but he’s also very good and smart. He gives the best hugs and always wants to hold my hand or sit by me. He makes my day all the time!
