On November 12th the girls and I woke up really early for a fun filled day in Yangshuo! First we rented bikes and rode for two hours among the beautiful mountains and valleys. After getting lost we finally made it to a bridge where our hostel arranged for us to take a two hour bamboo raft ride down the Yulong river. We stopped for lunch, got back on our bikes, and rode the rest of the way back to our hostel. We finished off the day at the Gold Water Cave where we toured a cave, swam in mud, and then took a steam bath! Such a great day!
A small bamboo ride across the river.
Grave stones—they were everywhere!
Our bamboo raft and river guide (as we called him)!
A water buffalo and a guy fishing with birds. He puts a ring around the birds’ necks so they can’t swallow and then takes all the fish that the bird catches.
Throughout the river there were about four waterfalls, which were actually kind of small, but on a flimsy bamboo raft they seemed a lot worse. With each of these waterfalls, came a tourist attraction booth where they would take your picture and you could buy it after.
Our river guide was probably one of the best parts of the bamboo raft! He was hilarious—always splashing water and doing funny things. He was also very flirty—he told us he loved us and would tell us about every five minutes that we were beautiful. Let me tell you—this was the life! Floating along a beautiful river and being complimented the whole way. He also let us try to push the raft for a little bit and it was definitely harder than it looks!
So beautiful!!
The Gold Water Caves! We weren’t allowed to take our cameras in so besides the first two the rest of the photos are ones the workers took and we bought.
The mud caves were so cool! Just a huge pit filled with mud that we got to play it. The pit about about two feet deep, but the mud was so thick that you weren’t able to sink at all. Although it was cold—it was so much fun!
Your cool experiences make me so jealous! That looks freaking BEAUTIFUL.
